The Who's Who of the Skin Care Industry

Hello Again...Well alot of the subscribers are asking about the skin care industry and if any of them are any different...well ladies and gents. There are some differences among the different skin care companies! Differences include the ingredients they use, the makers of the line, where the products come from as well as the sales person training etc...
For Instance,

Clarins the first skincare company that I worked for is a company that is based out of France. Jacques Courtin Clarins developed the line, it is a prestigious skin care line that focuses solely on plant extracts. Everything from the makeup to skin care to body care to sun the product is nothing but plant extracts. What is CLARINS known for SUN!! They have the best sun care..CLARINS is absoutely number 1 in sun care. They also rule the body care line...why? Because there products are extremely soothing and they really do work. For instance Clarins has this amazing oil that pregnant women can use to prevent them from getting stretch marks..and it really WORKS! There skin care is good too...but there are others out there...such as...

ESTEE LAUDER, this is a skin care conglomerate. Estee Lauder owns pratically all of the skin care lines out there. Just to name a few..they own Prescriptives, Clinique, Origins, AVEDA, Bobbi Brown, MAC, American Beauty. Now what differentiates this products from each other... well Prescriptives and Clinique are "doctor brands" these two companies were both developed by a dermatologists. Clinique..Dr. Norman Orientriech, Prescriptives...Dr. Karen Grossman. Estee Lauder was developed by Estee Lauders' uncle who is a chemist...she told him what she wanted the products to do and her uncle developed the products. Companies such as Origins and AVEDA are companies that environmental friendly and they are concerned with using natural ingredients in their products.

The skin care companies that are being sold today...are there any differences in them??? As mentioned previously some of the companies use different ingredients that may or may not be better than the others. Just remember when choosing a skin care line to use...ASK QUESTIONS! Ask the beauty consultant what is inside the products..she should know..Also do your own research online, research your concerns, to see what ingredients would be good to use.

And always remember the department store and drug store brands just may be owned by the same company..So really is there between the TWO???

THAT'S YOUR DECISION!! :)

There are so many skin care lines out there promising the world if you use them that I really am just stumped on what to use. I can't really afford to buy and try all the lines to see what I like the best. And I pretty much believe what the ladies at the department store or the labels on the products tell me (mostly because I don't have the time to do all the research myself!!!) I am still waiting for that magic lotion or pill that will give me beautiful skin forever! (haha) What do YOU use and truly recommend in terms of price and or quality? Does drinking a lot of water on a daily basis help your skin to look and feel better? or is that just another "rumor?" Also, are you currently accepting appointments?!? (hehe)

Your blog is so informative! I had no idea that Estee Lauder was the head corporation of all those other brands. Their brands cater to all consumers: environment concerned customers (Origins), young and trendy consumers (MAC), customers with problematic skin (Prescriptives), etc. Looking at the active ingredients of makeup and skin care products is the great way to differentiating the products. In my situation, as a trendy college girl, I love MAC and Clinque, however price is the big determinant for me. I am definitely keeping in mind that Clarins’ product that prevents stretch marks from forming when you are pregnant! That is one of the greatest things I have ever heard!! Looking forward to your next blog!

I am one of those people who mix and match among the different companies. I noticed that Rachel commented about price. I have tried everything and anything and for some things I think that the drug store is just as efficient. For face makeup, shadows, and eyeliners I prefer MAC. I just think that it lasts longer and their foundation and loose powder makes the skin look flawless. For mascara, lipliners and lipsticks I think Maybaline, Cover Girl, etc. work fine. Clinique is also good and it is cheaper. As for cleansers and creams, the Avon Porefection line that I mentioned in an earlier comment is awesome. I have been using it for a while and my pores are visibly smaller and my skin is tighter due to the alpha and beta hydroxy formula. Neutrogena has similar products at an even lower price. You mentioned something about alpha hydroxy, so when I went to the store I looked for this ingredient and it worked! Thank You.

I have never realized that Estee Lauder had so many brands. I always get confused and never really know what to look for, so I’m glad that you are clarifying things. I went to one of the counters and asked the woman what I should do for my skin and what she gave me really didn’t help. Since then I’ve been a little scared to go to the counters with questions. I am definitely going to go look for some Clarins products because I am always in the sun and if I can find something that will help, it would be awesome.
